Our client is a significant manufacturing company with plants in the UK, United States and Europe, and who have a long list of suppliers who provide raw materials and ingredients for the food and drinks that they produce in high volume.

The business has a duty of care to comply with strict food and health standards, and to ensure that the quality control processes are adhered to both in their own manufacturing environment and that of the products, materials and ingredients delivered by their substantial supplier network.

When Moov2 were consulted initially, there was a very old proprietary computer system in place that managed the quality issues in relation to supplier delivered materials, defects and quality assurance issues. The system was difficult to use from an end-user prospective, hard to administrate and inconsistent in operation, furthermore distribution of the application and authentication of users was a process that required network administration privileges and could not be managed at a departmental head level.

The intranet-based application that was developed by Moov2 consisted of full user, supplier, product, supplier audit and issue management and resolution. Furthermore Moov2 worked closely with both the users of the system and the business management function in order to produce a quality matrix and associated assessment criteria in order to score the performance of each supplier on a quality control basis, and to track this performance over time so as to identify under-performers with whom the quality management team needed to work with to improve the overall supply chain network.

As a result of the success of this software development, the application was rolled out to the national quality team in the US as well as the UK.
