Software Project Specification Definition Workshop
What it is for
We need to understand the client business, processes and the proposed software system's environment so that we can accurately transpose the business' requirements into the system specification documents. We work with our clients to identify business process workflows, data inputs, business processing logic, storage, output and management reporting requirements. This stage can take some time dependant on the scope of the project, but having gained a good insight into the operational requirements and client expectations allows us to produce an accurate project specification, plan, resource schedule and project budget.
The outputs
From this stage, we will develop "jargon-free" user storyboards which we review with the client, along with supporting exhibits such as mock-up screen shots and example output reports so as to ensure that the project specification is in complete alignment with the client's needs and expectations.
We also define acceptance criteria for each software view, allowing us to identify what each element of the system must achieve to be considered "fit for purpose," this assists us in montiroing the progress of the project and provides a quality assurance audit trail for the newly developed software project.
